Yes. Off Leash K9 Training San Antonio offers a satisfaction guarantee for the first lesson. If you are not completely amazed and 100% satisfied after the first lesson, that lesson is free. Some programs also include additional support, such as lifetime refresher lessons on commands taught during training. Guarantee details may vary by program, especially for behavior issues like aggression, anxiety, or severe reactivity, so we recommend reviewing the specific program details before enrolling.

Yes. Professional dog training can help your dog build better focus, confidence, manners, and obedience at home and in public. Many common behavior issues, such as jumping, leash pulling, chewing, barking, and poor recall, improve when a dog has clearer structure, consistent communication, and regular mental and physical exercise.

Our training programs are designed to help dogs understand what is expected of them while also teaching owners how to maintain the training after the program is complete. Depending on the program, your dog may work on commands such as come, sit, place, down, heel, off, recall, door manners, greeting manners, and obedience around distractions.

An e-collar is a remote training collar used to help communicate with your dog during obedience training. It allows the handler to send a low-level stimulation through the collar to get the dog’s attention, similar to a tap on the shoulder.

When introduced properly, the e-collar is not used as punishment. It is used as a communication tool to help your dog understand commands, stay focused, and respond more reliably, even around distractions. Your trainer will teach you how the collar is fitted, introduced, and used so you can continue the training safely and consistently at home.

No. During our first meeting we will put the e-collar on your arm and you will feel how mild the stimulation is. We will also stimulate ourselves with the e-collar to show you that it will not hurt your dog. One common misconception is the e-collar will burn their skin. This is false. Other people think that it is like being shocked with a taser, this is also false. We are dog trainers because we LOVE dogs and we would never do anything to harm them in any way! Furthermore, we would never do anything to a dog, that we will not do ourselves.

Generally, we do not like to train dogs inside the house! Why? It is easy for dogs to listen when they are in their own home. It is a familiar environment. If your pet trains in an unfamiliar environment, with countless distractions, they will listen to your commands anywhere.

The great thing about this training is that you don’t have to set a specific amount of time aside per day in order to train your dog! We will teach you how to incorporate this training into your daily routine.

Basic Obedience is generally done in FOUR lessons.

  • Lesson 1: “Come” and “Sit.” Off-Leash
  • Lesson 2: “Extended Sit” and “Down.” Extended sit meaning your dog will sit until you release it
  • Lesson 3: “Place” and “Extended Down.” Place meaning your dog will sit on a specific object you point to (chair, bench, etc)
  • Lesson 4: “Loose Leash Walking.” Meaning, your dog will walk right beside of you while on a leash.

If you are interested in advanced obedience after you and your dog has completed the basic obedience, it is also available!

Generally, we do not start e-collar training on a dog until it is at least 5 months old.

Not a problem! We can still train your pup using the clicker/treat method! This will give your new pup a good foundation for basic obedience! Additionally, We can teach you how to house train your puppy. He/ she will learn how to let you know they need to go. So they don’t continue having accidents in the house.

A clicker is a small device that makes a distinct “click” noise. This is used to instantly mark the desired behavior. Then, it is immediately followed with a treat! This enables the dog to learn the commands much faster because you are instantly “marking” the correct behavior. In return, the dog knows it has not done what you are asking it to do until it hears the distinct “click.”

That is fine! E-Collar training works on a dog of ANY SIZE, ANY SHAPE, and ANY AGE (above 5 months).

We offer private obedience lessons, basic and advanced obedience, board-and-train programs, puppy training, positive reinforcement training, behavior modification, and therapy-dog development. The right program depends on your dog’s age, temperament, behavior, and training goals.

Dog training costs depend on the type of program, the number of lessons, the length of training, the equipment included, and your dog’s behavioral needs. Private lessons generally cost less than longer residential programs, while aggression and behavior-modification programs require more training time.

Look for a trainer with clearly explained programs, experience with your dog’s specific needs, authentic client reviews, transparent pricing, and support for owners after training. The best program should match your dog’s age, behavior, temperament, and your ability to continue practicing at home.

You can read client testimonials and watch dog training videos before choosing.

Yes. Puppy training options include a puppy consultation, a 10-day puppy board-and-train program, positive reinforcement puppy lessons, an online puppy course, and a Comprehensive Puppy to Adult Board and Train package. Depending on the program, training may cover basic commands, leash walking, recall, greeting manners, socialization, crate routines, and potty-training foundations.

Puppies can begin learning basic routines, engagement, marker training, socialization, crate habits, and simple commands at a young age. Younger puppies can start with reward-based methods, while other programs may have minimum age requirements. A puppy training consultation can help you choose age-appropriate training.

Yes. The puppy consultation includes guidance for crate training and teaching a puppy how to communicate when it needs to go outside. Puppy board-and-train programs can also help establish a practical schedule for housebreaking and crate routines. Because every puppy develops differently, continued consistency at home is necessary.

Board and train is an immersive program where your dog stays with a professional trainer and receives structured training throughout the day. Depending on the program, your dog may practice obedience commands, leash walking, recall, greeting manners, door manners, socialization, and responses around distractions. Owners receive a detailed turnover session explaining how to maintain the training at home. You can compare options on the Plans and Pricing page.

Board and train may be appropriate for owners seeking concentrated daily training and an immersive environment. Private lessons may be better for owners who want to participate directly, develop their handling skills, and practice between sessions. The best choice depends on your schedule, training goals, dog’s behavior, and preferred level of involvement. Review San Antonio dog training packages to compare available options.

The training timeline depends on the program and the behaviors being addressed. Basic obedience includes four weekly private lessons, basic and advanced obedience includes eight weekly lessons, and board-and-train programs may range from one week to three weeks depending on the program. Dogs with aggression, severe reactivity, anxiety, or deeply established habits may require additional training and continued management.

Yes. We offer behavior-modification training for dogs experiencing aggression, reactivity, severe anxiety, timidness, or difficulty around other dogs. A 3-week Behavior Modification Board and Train is also available for qualifying dogs with dog-directed or human-directed aggression.

Serious behavior concerns should be discussed through the contact page before purchasing a program.

Training may help improve structure, confidence, independence, crate routines, and general obedience for dogs displaying anxiety-related behaviors. However, severe separation anxiety can be complex and may require support from both a professional trainer and a veterinarian or qualified veterinary behavior professional.

Contact San Antonio dog trainers so your dog’s behavior can be discussed before a program is selected.

Training can help owners manage and redirect unwanted behaviors such as jumping, excessive barking, leash pulling, chewing, nipping, and poor greeting manners. The appropriate approach depends on whether the behavior is caused by excitement, boredom, fear, anxiety, frustration, reactivity, or aggression.

Dogs with a bite history should be discussed with the training team before enrollment.

Yes. Several programs include heel, loose-leash walking, handler engagement, and obedience around distractions. These skills teach your dog to follow your direction instead of constantly pulling toward people, dogs, smells, or other distractions. Continued practice after training is important for maintaining better leash manners.

You can review the obedience training options to choose the right fit.

The 2-week board-and-train program includes advanced obedience, recall, and off-leash training around real-world distractions. Off-leash suitability depends on the dog’s progress, temperament, anxiety, aggression, environment, and the trainer’s professional recommendation. Owners must also follow local leash laws and use appropriate off-leash areas.

Depending on the program, your dog may learn come, sit, down, place, heel, off, distance down, sit in motion or touch, and come to heel. Advanced and board-and-train programs may also include door manners, longer-duration commands, recall, and obedience around distractions.

Review the basic obedience and basic and advanced obedience program descriptions for complete command lists.

Yes. Basic Marker Mastery is a reward-based program that uses treats, praise, marker training, and clicker training. It introduces come, sit, place, and loose-leash walking without using an e-collar or prong collar. Puppy lessons also use positive reinforcement and reward-based instruction.

E-collars are included in several obedience and board-and-train programs. Trainers teach owners how the equipment is introduced, fitted, and used as part of the communication system. Owners who prefer a non-e-collar option can consider Basic Marker Mastery or the Pawsitive Puppy Lesson Program.

The website offers Therapy Dog Development rather than general task-specific service-dog training. This immersive program covers obedience, public manners, distractions, environmental exposure, and preparation for therapy-dog testing and certification. Therapy dogs are different from service dogs, which are individually trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability.
